DISPERSE Fieldwork in Kenya and Tanzania

Other members of the party included Sally Reynolds and Matthew Bennett from Bournemouth University, Boniface Kimeu, and Felix Furgut, a Master's student from the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich working under Simon Kuebler's supervision. The team visited Olduvai Gorge and the Lake Natron region in Tanzania to examine the requirements for future work, and then returned to conduct further work in the Olorgesailie region of the Kenyan Rift, where Felix was introduced to the local Masai so that he could stay on after the departure of the other team members to carry out more detailed mapping of faulting and caldera collapse in the area. The accompanying photograph shows Felix (centre) and Boniface (far right) with a local Kenyan family.
